🧈 Old-Fashioned Buttermilk Biscuits
Tall, buttery, and wonderfully flaky with soft layers inside. These classic biscuits are perfect warm from the oven with butter, honey, or jam.
Ingredients:
* 2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 tbsp baking powder
* ½ tsp baking soda
* 1 tsp salt
* 6 tbsp cold butter, cubed
* ¾ cup cold buttermilk
* 2 tbsp melted butter, for brushing
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces remaining.
4. Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently mix just until a shaggy dough forms.
5. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Pat into a rectangle, fold into thirds, and repeat the fold 2 more times for flaky layers.
6. Pat dough about ¾–1 inch thick and cut biscuits straight down without twisting the cutter.
7. Place biscuits close together on a baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, until tall and golden.
8. Brush the hot tops with melted butter.
Serve warm and watch those buttery layers pull apart. ❤️
